 The Strand Hotel

built in 1901 the Strand is recognized as a national landmark. Renovated and reopened in 1993, it is located on Strand Road just across from the shipping areas on the Yangon River. A lovely lobby and bar sit below the two levels of very large and graciously appointed rooms and make for an intimate and old style colonial experience. Food and service are excellent.

Just opened in November of 1997, this property is situated a little off the northeast edge of Kandawgyi Lake and about a 15 minute drive from downtown Yangon. The hotel features a large attractively landscaped courtyard with many palm trees and a large ‘L’ shaped swimming pool set below an artificial waterfall and bordered by statutes. Rooms are pleasingly decorated and open on to a small balcony. A fitness center is also available. It is a member of the Japanese Nikko chain of hotels.

A swimming pool is set in the garden at the back of the hotel near two large ‘honeymoon bungalows’. Set on 27 acres of landscaped ground next to Inya Lake and a few miles from city center, it offers a scenic and relaxing setting. It is a large and luxurious hotel with an impressive external appearance. Located across the road from Inya Lake it has a nice large swimming pool with a ‘swim up to’ bar. Large well appointed lobby. Superior and deluxe rooms are similarly carpeted and nicely furnished with either a view on the swimming pool area to the back or Inya Lake to the front. There is a large drive up entrance and underground parking. Fitness center and lighted tennis courts. It is located slightly closer to town than Inya Lake Hotel. It is a member of the Singaporean Sedona chain.
